The high-quality organic charcoal leaves surprisingly little ash in the ceramic base. Residual matter is easy to remove through the draft door using the scraper and ash shovel. The ash shovel fits perfectly into the draft door opening (of the XLarge, Large and Medium models), eliminating the risk of soiling.
